To better protect your dog against Lyme disease, we are now carrying the newest, most comprehensive vaccine.
This new vaccine is unlike any other on the market, which is why any dog that has been vaccinated against Lyme disease previously will require an additional series of two vaccinations followed by a yearly booster vaccine.
Please call us today at (401) 738-3447 to schedule your dog's vaccination and ensure your pet gets the best protection available.
What Is Lyme Disease?
Lyme disease is caused by a bacterium called Borrelia burgdorferi. Ticks carry this bacterium and can facilitate its spread to dogs, humans, and other species. Common signs include fever, lethargy swollen joints, lameness and decreased appetite. In some cases, infection can even lead to kidney failure. The Companion Animal Parasite Council reports over 250,000 positive Lyme disease cases in dogs in 2015.
At West Shore Animal Clinic, we strive to keep all of our patients happy and healthy, and believe that preventative medicine plays a very important part in that. Please feel free to call us if you have any questions about Lyme disease or your pet’s overall health care.
